Let's examine what you wrote: >>>If Bush attended funerals the focus would be on him, not the soldiers and their families. That alone makes it a good idea to let the focus stay on the family and friends. If J. Lo showed up at your wedding you'd fade into the background pretty fast.<<< You really think so, huh? Fact of the matter is Bush should have attended the very first funeral! Or he could have attended the first female soldier funeral!!! But he didn't, did he? You're right, however, about all of the attention that would dawn on Bush were he to attend an American dead soldier's funeral. It is possible that Bush would draw attention back to his own less than stellar military background--how he avoided going to the Vietnam War, how he might have died, been captured or wounded. No, Bush can't afford to have this happen. Especially since this past year the too busy Bush had 100 fund raisers both he and Cheney attended to. Hey, I understand--Bush and Cheney went for the money!!! Hey, why couldn't Cheney have attended a funeral or few? Of course, the war went so quick it just wouldn't look right for Bush or Cheney to attend a funeral or few of soldiers who had died when the mission was already accomplished. No, that wouldn't look right--wouldn't be good PR! Would it? >>>This is sort of like the "cod-piece" items about Bush when he flew in onto the deck of a carrier. I'd be willing to bet Kerry was wearing his "cod-piece" when he played in the hockey game a few nights ago. Much ado about nothing.<<< Hey Gordon, I agree with you on this! >>>If Bush attended one funeral and not another wouldn't people be offended? Besides, if he did, between that (500 funerals) and his vacations he wouldn't have time to do anything that would bother his political rivals, which is one of his sworn duties.<<< Yeah, Gordon, you really, really became a Bush apologist on this issue. Don't you think there were multiple burials at Arlington Cemetary? He could have attended a ceremony such as this without appearing discriminatory. And, speaking of which, when was Bush ever concerned about discriminating? You might wish to write Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney a letter and ask that they attend a funeral.
