Hi dan6 and welcome aboard. Feel free to toss out what you are seeing and thinking about in the SCE (semi capital equip) sector and related stocks. If you have questions after doing your research, please drop us a line and you might be pleasantly surprised at the answers you get.

It's always good to have different opinions on this thread and I would greatly encourage others to post their thoughts.

...and don't forget to let us know when you buy so we can dump<vbg>!

I'm mostly in cash. I will admit has not been the most profitable place to be. But it is hard to lose money that way. I do think it is likely to continue to be profitable to trade the range here for the SOX and associated stocks.

Some key factors to consider are individual stock charts. I am buying only when stocks hit lower Bollinger Bands and have RSI's that approach previous lows.

Lets take AMAT for instance as an example. Here is a chart from StockCharts.com:

stockcharts.com[h,a]daclyyay[pb20!b50!b200!c13!c20!c50!i!d20,2!f][vc60][iUb14!La12,26,9!Lg!Li10,10!Lh5,5!Lp14,3,3!Ll14]&pref=G

As you look over the chart you will see that this stock like most others trades to extremes that can be measured above the upper Bollinger Band with an RSI above 70 to lows with its RSI at or near 35. So if I have a good read on AMAT it may trade below 21.80 when it ultimately bottoms.

I am also using the short term indicators I have outlined on these charts at iHub:

stockcharts.com[h,a]faclyyay[pb20!b50!b200!c13!c20!c50!i!d20,2!f][vc60][iUb14!La12,26,9!Lg!Li10,10!Lh5,5!Lp14,3,3!Ll14]&pref=G

And this chart from MarketGuage is very useful:

Finally I think watching Les Horowitz's incredible work. It is extremely useful:

I'm watching for the trend state on the semiconductors to change from down to up. As long as it stays down then that is the path of least resistance.
