Boy, I got a taste of that today. Our 2 1/2 year old refridgerator when out Friday. Took to today to get a Whirlpool repairman out. Warranty was 2 years on nearly everything 5 years on sealed cooling unit. Well, was nothing more then a simple resistor. NOT in the warranty. Total cost $175!! Took 5 minutes to replace!! Resistor itself cost $48. NOW I know something about resistors. I buy them for other equipment and put them in myself for 10-15 dollars. As I pointed out how NEW this unit was the guy told me WHIRLPOOL no longer makes a good unit. They have engineered in SELF DESTRUCT stuff. This guy is a Whirlpool rep, so be advised. I wont be buying another whirlpool product and up to now thats ALL I bought. jdn
