Globe and Mail reports in its Wednesday edition that a Calgary oil executive who has criticized the war in Iraq has been swept up in a bizarre scandal involving a list of Saddam Hussein supporters who, Iraqi reports say, received free oil in return for backing the ousted leader. The Globe's Paul Waldie writes that documents from Iraq's oil ministry allegedly show that the recently captured Iraqi dictator rewarded 200 of his leading supporters abroad by giving them millions of barrels of crude oil. On Tuesday, the Iraqi National Congress launched an investigation to find out if anyone on the list in fact may have received bribes in return for supporting Mr. Hussein. The list includes dozens of groups, including the Russian Communist Party, India's Congress Party, the Palestinian Liberation Organization and the Russian Orthodox Church. The only Canadian on the list is Arthur Millholland, president of Oilexco. The documents reportedly say he received one million barrels of oil. Mr. Millholland has been an
outspoken critic of the war against Iraq. Donn Lovett, a Calgary businessman who works with Mr. Millholland on Iraqi issues, said the oil executive refused to accept any bribes
