I agree on this point. On NPR today the reporters kept talking about how people were voting for someone they thought could beat Bush rather than voting their hearts. This gives me a great deal of concern. I'm not sure what one looks for if that is all they care about. Is it someone like Bush? unlike Bush? Someone who seems personable? This is troubling. People should back whom they like and hope if their candidate doesn't win, he will have enough support to have influence on the selected candidate.
