Not only does the external keyboard work, but the laptop keyboard works. Thanks for the hint. I didn't try an external keyboard because the two I had I had apparently given to the Salvation Army during my most recent "divestiture." I guess I should keep one on hand for emergencies so I will see to that. As you can see, the keyboard is fine this morning. It failed five times yesterday but always came back after assorted shaking and rebooting and incantations and the like. Anyway, I will wait for it to fail again before sending my baby back to the infamous "depot" to be exorcised. That could be five minutes from now, or I guess it could be never.
