I see futures down a little, however, I am *hoping* for an up day tomorrow after reviewing these 2 reports. BRCM guided well ahead on a sequential basis which is outstanding in the soft Q1. Amazon fell AH due to GM pressure and larger than expected inventories, but the overall picture of the AMZN numbers is solid, especially the debt buyback. The problem that the analysts have is that AMZN revenues are guiding up but profits are just meeting estimates.

The CFO at amzn is a guy named Szkutak and the CEO of Red Hat is Michael Szulik. Wonder where those names came from.

:03PM Broadcom guides Q1 revenues well above consensus (BRCM) 40.60 -0.75: -- Update -- On call, BRCM says it has not experienced any seasonal softness in the Q1 (Mar) period, and now expects a 10% sequential increase in revenues... This puts revs at ~$527.01 mln versus the Reuters Research consensus estimate of $467.5 mln... Management also says that bookings have been strong, and gross margins should be around Q4's (Dec) level.

4:08PM Amazon.com reports in-line EPS, issues guidance (AMZN) 55.74 -1.29: Reports Q4 (Dec) earnings of $0.29 per share, in line with the Reuters Research consensus of $0.29; revenues rose 36.2% year/year to $1.95 bln vs the $1.86 bln consensus. Co expects Q1 revs of $1.39-$1.49 bln (consensus $1.32 bln), and expects 2004 revs of $6.2-$6.7 bln (consensus $6.22 bln). Co also announced that it has authorized a debt repurchase program worth $650 mln.

4:03PM AMZN jumps 1.70 pts in after hours :

Lizzie:

I don't think the $$ crashes from this level. Actually I expect it to rally.
