Then why did "Europe" oppose action in Iraq?

1) They were content doing Biz with Saddam and wanted to expand it.

2) They didn't want to see our influence in the ME increase.

"Then why did "Europe" oppose action in Iraq?"

Because their self interests were profiting from illegal
arms sales & also receiving extremely lucrative contracts
from Saddam in return. IOW, they made a deal with the
devil & they didn't want the gravy train to stop or have
it exposed.

Certainly correct. "Europe", ie France, Germany, and Russia - opposed us on Iraq for reasons of 1. financial interests, 2. conceited notions of "balancing the hyperpower". The very fact that they miscalculated the cost/benefit proves the point. The cost of opposition was higher. If Saddam Hussein would have been able to provide WMD to terrorists, as we feared he could do, the cost would have been very high indeed. And for what? Oil contracts and debt that the US in all likelihood would have guaranteed to be reimbursed for its friends? Vanity.
