RE: The Spin Doctors

TSMC's '04 capital budget and earnings outlook tonight will be difficult for analysts to spin. I'm hopefull that the massive amount of detail put forward by TSMC should begin to put '04 into better perspective.

FWIW: I heard a bullish analyst about two weeks ago, I think Dan Niles, who said in response to a question about the chip cycle, that there were a lot of people who really did not understand some of the implications of what is happening on the demand side of the industry (.ie increasing digital content in entertainment products). He thought we were only 1/3 of the way through the upcycle and it had a long way to run.

Regards,

Roger

More spin!

Technology revenues have not risen. In fact, revenues of the main U.S. and European technology companies are still 10 percent below peak levels reached in early 2001, according to merchant bank Merrill Lynch's models.

So I guess last Q's RECORD earnings and revenues by INTC were not an all-time high after all?
