We would not have had the political support, either domestically or internationally, to take such a tack. It was hard enough to avoid overt condemnation from some quarters as it was. As for the casualties, in my opinion, it would have been worse if we had started playing bad cop. We depend on the support, or at least general acquiescence, of most Iraqis. Since the capture of Saddam, they have been more forthcoming in aiding our intelligence, and it is only a month or so since the sea- change, give it a little more time.........
