"Do you know of anyone in a position of actual authority among the major Western powers who was clearly pro- Hitler?"

".... Unfortunately that is the last time Britain and British Zionists did
anything to aid the Jews. Shortly after this acknowledgement the British did
everything possible to thwart the mandate given to them. In fact they failed
miserably in their fiduciary responsibility to the Jews and contributed, as
will be seen below, in thought and deed to the destruction of the Jews in
the Holocaust.

Already by 1920 the British had set a quota on Jewish immigration despite
the San Remo conference establishing the British Mandate of the League of
Nations as "A Jewish National Home".

In March of 1921 there was a secret memorandum between Winston Churchill and
Lloyd George to treat Eastern Palestine as an Arab province in complete
contravention of the mandatory agreement.[6]

Therefore even though the ink on the mandate to create a homeland for the
Jews was virtually still wet, the British summarily abrogated it and
unilaterally altered its map and its purpose to suit their own geopolitical
concerns. By splitting off the eastern area of the mandate the British
summarily reduced the area of the Homeland from 46,000 square miles to 8,000
square miles. The remaining 38,000 square miles did not officially become
the country of Jordan until 1946. Jews who had lived in towns and villages
in what was now Eastern Palestine for centuries were uprooted and forced to
leave.

In 1921 the British High Commissioner appointed a virulently anti-Semitic
Arab fanatic Haj Amin al-Husseini as the Mufti of Jerusalem. Shortly after
his appointment the first onslaught of Arabs against the Jews of Jaffa and
Petach Tikva began. This riot was "abetted" by British Officials", according
to the historian de Haas. The Haycraft Riot Commission concurred in its
October 1921 report with de Haas's conclusions. The British response to this
rioting was not to attempt to fulfill the mandate requirements that Jews be
allowed into Palestine but was to increase the restrictions on Jewish
immigration into Palestine (or what was left of it).

In 1928 The "Organic law" provided separate Commissions for Palestine and
TransJordan respectively. This was in total contravention of the Mandate as
there was only one mandate given to the British. Incidents took place at the
Wailing Wall with Arabs incited by Mufti Haj Amin to anti-Jewish attacks.
The British response was to do nothing to stop the Arabs or to protect the
Jews.

In 1929 The Arabs massacred Jews in Safed and Hebron. Rioting and assaults
were perpetrated on Jewish settlements and Jerusalem by "deliberate
religious influence" The Mufti was heard to cry, "Itback al-Yahud "Slaughter
the Jews!" (Parkes History) The British were informed prior to the riots
that that major rioting was about to break out. Other then assuring the Jews
that they were aware of the situation, the British stood by and watched
without interfering. Then when it suited their purposes they easily and
quickly quelled the riots. The riots lasted seven days and 67 residents of
Hebron were slaughtered by the frenzied mobs. - This riot could easily have
been prevented if the British had chosen to do so.

In 1930 State lands were allocated for "landless Arabs[7]" (the Hope Simpson
report) instead of for Jewish settlement as required by the Mandate. The
Jews were restricted from acquiring this land.

In 1933 Muslim riots during the festival of Nebi Rubin were sparked by
violent speeches against Jewish immigration. Strikes and anti-Jewish riots
occurred. The British authorities made no attempt to stop this.

In 1934 30,000-35,000 Arabs from the Hauran immigrate illegally into western
Palestine in a three month period. The British deny their existence and omit
them from their statistical survey of the population of Palestine and all
British data records. Yet they use the increasing Arab population to justify
restricting Jewish immigration to "that which the land can support". They
insist that the growing Arab population is secondary to Arab fertility and
categorically deny Arab immigration as a factor.

In 1936 Anti-Jewish pograms and riots occur. Arab strikes take place
fomented by religious leaders and aided by imported assistance of hired
Syrian and Iraqi mercenaries. These riots are known as the "Arab Revolt". No
action on the part of the British Government, to protect Jews or to carry
out their mandate, except to form another commission.

In 1937 a Royal commission is appointed to investigate the deteriorating
Palestine conditions, over 100 Jews, moderate Arab and government personnel
have been murdered by followers of Haj Amin. 150 more were wounded and the
Jews are primarily blamed by the British for the unrest. For the first time
a Royal Commission recommends partition of Palestine into a smaller Jewish
and a larger Arab state further diluting the original mandate of a Jewish
Homeland. The Arabs roundly reject this solution

In 1938 Mufti-led guerrilla warfare aided by imported Arab rebels includes
anti-Jewish pogroms, assassinations of other Arabs, ambushes of the military
and general sabotage. The British response is to further restrict Jewish
immigration into the "Jewish Homeland". This is the same year as the Evian
Conference (see below).

In 1939 The British Government publishes its White Paper that enforces a new
rigidly pro-Arab anti-Mandate policy restricting Jewish immigration to a
token 75,000 Jews, total, spread over the years between 1940 and 1945.
Thereafter the Jewish immigration into Western Palestine will be at the
discretion of the Arabs of Palestine. In addition this white paper prohibits
transfers of most land in (western) Palestine, "except to a Palestinian
Arab".

The Evian Conference mentioned above was held in 1938. At the conference
were thirty-two countries whose purpose was to solve the problem of Jewish
refugees. Even observers from Nazi Germany were allowed to audit the
proceedings. Jews, as such, were not represented because "they did not have
their own state" (remember that was one of the goals of the Mandate given to
Britain as outlined above) Chaim Weitzman the leading spokesman of the Jews
was prohibited from speaking even in private at the conference because Great
Britain protested against allowing him to speak. The US failed to even set a
tone conducive to rescuing refugees by stating at the outset that none of
the nations would be expected or asked to receive a greater number of
immigrants than is permitted by "existing legislation". The US then
proceeded to 'magnanimously' state that it would continue with its quota of
27,370 immigrants from Germany and Austria. As a result of this, none of the
other conference participants with the exception of Santo Domingo offered to
increase their quotas on immigrants.. Santo Domingo offered to take 100,000
refugees. It was in no small measure because of the cynicism displayed at
this conference that Hitler (who had previously offered to send Jews to
countries willing to accept them by means of luxury liners at government
expense) realized that the world cared not one whit for the Jews. This was
probably one of the bases for his deciding on the 'final' solution of the
holocaust.

The British in the meantime used the Evian conference to turn the Mandate on
its head. British secretary of foreign affairs Anthony Eden aimed for a
"plan that would not give Jews any territory exclusively for their own use".
There was no attention given to "Justice" in government policy. Eden wrote
to his private secretary, "If we must have preferences, let me murmur in
your ear that I prefer Arabs to Jews". His secretary noted in his own diary
in 1943 that

"Unfortunately A.E. is immovable on the subject of Palestine. He loves Arabs
and hates Jews".

Others in control of Palestine with similar anti-Jewish views were Malcolm
MacDonald, British Colonial Secretary who speaking out of both sides of his
mouth said that Britain could not continue to carry out the Balfour
Declaration and at the same time justified their white paper of 1939 as
carrying out the obligations of the Mandate to "Arabs and Jews". This
inversion of policy was reported as:

"It was therefore necessary to devise an alternative policy consistent with
the obligations to Arabs and Jews under the Mandate. The Statement declared
unequivocally that it was not part of this policy that Palestine should
become a Jewish State as this would be contrary to the obligations to the
Arabs under the Mandate..." (Anglo-American Committee Survey, vol. I, pp.
52-53).

Nowhere did the Mandate convey any obligations to the Arabs at the time of
the Balfour declaration. It stated only the obligations of Britain to
provide for a Jewish National Homeland. This inversion existed only in the
disingenuous and mendacious British mind.

In summary, almost as soon as the Balfour declaration was declared and
almost before the San Remo conference ended the British sold the Jewish
birthright to the Arabs. Their management of the Mandate was perfidious. It
resulted in restrictions of Jewish immigration into what was meant to be a
Jewish homeland (thus putting to naught all of the work of the Christian
Zionists of the previous centuries) while allowing nearly unrestricted Arab
immigration. The British tore away over 70% of the Mandate and gave it to
the Arabs to satisfy British geopolitical needs. In this eastern Palestine
they allowed the Arabs to promulgate an "Arab Law of Return" that allowed
any Arab to return but not Jews! They falsified Arab immigration data or
flatly denied its existence instead concocting fantastic tales about the
prodigious natural increase of the Arab population. They stood by calmly
while the Arabs were incited to riot time and time again against the Jews,
by Arab religious leaders. Instead of protecting their Jewish wards, they
sought to prevent Jews from defending themselves. They took little action
when Arab fanatics continuously murdered Arab moderates so that none were
left with whom the Jews could even hold constructive talks. When State lands
were made available for settlement they allowed them to be transferred and
sold only to Arabs while restricting Jewish settlement on what was to be the
Jewish homeland. They actively prosecuted and persecuted desperate Jews who
attempted illegally to immigrate into their Homeland to escape the
"gathering storm" in Europe. At the Evian conference their last chance to
perform an act of Justice toward world Jewry, they failed miserably in their
fiduciary responsibility toward the Jews as a people and to their mandated
responsibility under their League of Nations mandate. Instead of allowing
unrestricted or even increased Jewish immigration into Palestine the
designated homeland of the Jews, they slammed the doors shut knowing full
well that this would result in the destruction of the Jews of Europe. They
did this maliciously and callously. The Nazi observers to the Evian
conference sensing that there were no defenders of the Jews quite rightfully
concluded that they had a free hand to deal with this powerless people. Eli
Weisel surveying the destruction of the Holocaust stated that "powerlessness
invites the abuse of power". And the British guaranteed that powerlessness.
Lastly when the British sought allies among the Arabs in their war against
the Germans it was the Jews of Palestine that formed brigades and
volunteered to fight. The Arabs defected as fast as they were recruited into
the British brigades and saw little action. The Mufti of Jerusalem in fact
was meeting with Hitler and urging him to kill all the Jews in Palestine
after Hitler had won the war and defeated Britain. In fact he was urging all
of his Arabs to revolt against the British.

Therefore there may have been an earlier Christian British Zionism that was
helpful to the Jewish cause. But the British failed mightily in the
obligations that they had voluntarily assumed. Their official policy aided
and abetted the destruction of World Jewry and for that I am not willing to
forgive them.

The actions of British Prime Minister Tony Blair today and the condescension
and sneering anti-Semitism expressed among the British elite and their
newspapers leads me to believe that official policy has not changed nor has
the underlying British anti-Semitism that resulted in the massacre and
expulsion of the Jews so many centuries ago.

Had the British lived up to their mandate the whole sale slaughter of Jews
in the Holocaust might have been averted. The position of Jews in the
Middle East, in a significantly larger country that contained much more
defensible borders, might have been assured. Instead of numbering only a
mere 12 to 14 millions in the world we might well be more than 20 or 30
million. Instead of being pariahs we might have been a nation like any
other.

You may turn your face away from history but that doesn't change the facts.
I stand by my accusations.
