The nation state, the apparatus of power, must keep society in one piece. It is its duty. Leonardo da Vinci have to say the Earth didn't revolve around the Sun. So the apparatus was kept intact. No need to chnage any long established "truth" and the ignorant masses were kept in the dark. Would anyone expect Blair being impeached, sent to jail, Labour discredited and the issue iof the war discovered to be a phony? The state doesn't work that way. It has a couple of thousand years and have learned how to deal with issues such as these. Justice has been done, the leaders are cleared and it is time to move: The apparatus of the state and its mechanisms is one thing, truth is another story: As da Vinci said while "moving on" Eppur si muove... But be careful, There is alwasy an era of Enlightenment that bares the old "truths"!
