Ultimately, you are correct. But the UN charter and law makes has a provision for that. A member nation is allowed to defend itself.

Yes, and kay's testimony today, regardless of how the traitorous Kennedy tries to spin it, was that Iraq, was a threat to the USA and to its Allies. Not only directly but indirectly through terrorists. jdn

I agree that the term "international law" is a misnomer, and, by the way, the Constitution says that an ordinary act of Congress takes precedence over any treaty obligation. But there some use to international agreements, and an attempt to honor them, although there are also exceptions.
