Pretty ruthless cutting. Over 20K in just one quarter

The New York telecommunications company Thursday reported a loss of $1.46 billion, or 53 cents a share, which included items totaling $3.1 billion. In addition to the costs for the separation plan, under which 21,260 employees left the payroll, Verizon recorded $215 million in other special charges and a $44 million gain on the sale of investments. Excluding these charges, Verizon earned $1.6 billion in the quarter.

The 10/2 UST spread is still 237 bp, so the curve is just up some but not flattening. There is a 2 year auction out mid-morning, we will see if the BOJ buys it? I'll bet the Fed starts monetizing if not, a highly inflationary setup IMO.

Also, some deadfish came out and pounded the "business as usual" table on the brokers especially. However, it doesn't appear the Fed is especially encouraging the carry trade this morning.

I think the word is out to lighten up some?
