If the US had today's nuclear arsenal back in 1944 would it be ok to try and kill everyone in Germany and Japan?

That's precisely what the atomic bomb drops were for. The Japanese were just as dedicated to killing Americans then as the Palenstinians are to killing Israelis now. And just as not all Palestinians may support terrorism now, not all Japanese supported the war then.

But we killed a huge number in two cities to prove that we could, and would, slaughter Japanese if they didn't give up. And it worked. It saved a lot of American lives, and probably saved a lot more Japanese lives than it too.

I do wonder what would happen if Israel followed an equivalent policy now wrt Palestine. Not using atomic weapons, of course, that would be stupid so close to their borders. But a few daisy cutter bombs on the refugee camps, and what?

It's hard to hear myself talk like this -- I am essentially a pacifist, and have the scars to prove it. But the indiscriminate slaughter of innocent civilians by the Palestinian terrorists overcomes one's pacifist commitment.
