Many Contras were dope smuggling thieves working for rich special interests, trained by the same CIA types who trained the death squads in El Salvador. Hardly something to be proud of. Some of their missions included blowing up infratructure needed for survival by the Nic people, killing nuns, mining habors and blowing up fishing boats, etc. It was a crazy time and John Kerry was the one who prosecuted and indicted the whole thing. Kerry is a real hero. The Contras were not. Ollie North is really out of touch with reality. His trading arms to the Iranians was really noxious. And of course all the Saudi characters were involved the same as they are with the current Bush bunch.
