I support Dean but disagree with his criticism of No Child Left Behind. The goal is to ensure all grade-school children can read at least at a 3rd grade level. It's outrageous that schools did not achieve that low standard on their own without the need for added legislation. U.S. spends more on education per child than any other western country without minimum results.
I understand WHY Dean decided to make "No Child" part of his strategy--Teachers Unions comprise large part of Democrat Party base. They grumble about a program that should have been accomplished as just another day at the classroom.
