I'm short the EURO$

Sorry I missed that.
WTF is wrong with SI tonight?
I can not get on for minutes at a time, all kinds of weird server errors, and other BS.

Am I the only one with this problem?

M

declining/deflationary prices:

what about apartment rents ? i have a friend who manages a 3-plex for the family...he will have 2 out of 3 vacancies within a few months as people have given notice...he says as long as the next tenants are "good tenants" he will reluctantly but likely take $ 50 bucks less per month than he has been getting...better that than sitting with vacancies...

what i think is going on in this sector as well is : two years ago you had to take an apartment AS IS...now a landlord is spiffing it up, painting it perhaps, and/or maybe throwing in a free microwave. Who knows, maybe some might even be considering a "you move here, i'll split the cost of the movers with you" type offer to attract tenants...how does this activity get recorded ?

as far as the retail sector goes, i am figuring that ultimately, retailers cannot get stuck with inventory...so if the economy gets bad enough, retailers will be drowning and reducing prices to clear off stock and get some desperately needed cash in...this won't necessarily be the big well capitalized retailers that you can buy shares in on the NYSE but the local stores that have to do what they have to do to survive.
