TUCSON, Ariz. (Reuters) - Democratic White House hopeful Howard Dean blasted front-runner John Kerry on Saturday as the ``handmaiden of special interests'' and said the Massachusetts senator had played the game in Washington for 15 years.

Returning to the fiery rhetoric that propelled him to the top of the pack in summer and fall, the former Vermont governor said Democrats could not win on Nov. 2 by nominating ``someone who has his hands as deeply in the lobbyists' pockets
``We are not going to beat George Bush by nominating someone who is the handmaiden of special interests, `` Dean told hundreds of cheering supporters at an outdoor rally in Tucson, Arizona.

Dean cited a Washington Post article on Saturday which he said reported that Kerry had taken more special interest lobbyist money than any other senator in the 15 years.

``We want our country back for ordinary people,'' Dean declared. ``We're not going to do that by nominating just an inside-the-Beltway guy who's played the game for 15 years.''

Is your real name "Dean"? Or are you his campaign advisor? To steal one from the Dem playbook "IT'S THE ECONOMY STUPID!" Go ahead. Keep beating that drum. We'll see you in the snow watching George get inaugurated in 2005.
