I have noticed that in this Democratic primary, the candidate that excites them the most is not the one that they end up voting for. All along we saw how Dean was drawing crowds etc. But then in Iowa as well as at NH, we have the final 24 hours effect where Kerry surges and gets the votes. It seems that Dean has written off the South. So no matter what he keeps saying against Kerry, if he does not campaign in the South, he does not get any exposure there and his electability against Bush goes down further. It is a very stupid approach for him to keep campaigning against Kerry with negative attacks even when he knows that it is a uphill task for him. He should take the cue from Gephardt and Moseley Braun to bow out honorably and not go down like an attack dog. I can understand Sharpton staying in the race and wanting to go to the convention with some delegates and bargaining power. he Democratic party can understand and appreciate Sharpton's goal. But Dean's goal!?!? He has not expressed as strategy for why he is staying in the race. He needs to realize that he trails Kerry, Edwards and Clark (considering the Southern contests). So even if his attacks succeed in pulling Kerry down, it will move Edwards and Clark ahead, not him. So why is he doing what he is doing? Beyond me.
