On the question of Edwards's ideology, he has so far managed the best of both worlds. He has cultivated an image as a southern moderate that has some reporters lumping him in with the likes of Graham, Lieberman, John Breaux of Louisiana, and Zell Miller of Georgia. Yet in actual voting behavior Edwards is surprisingly orthodox, with a 95-percent rating from Americans for Democratic Action and an 100-percent rating from the government employees' union. Somehow, with his grin and his telegeneity and his southern charm, Edwards has confounded attempts by his adversaries to paint him as a liberal tool of the special interests. At least Bill Clinton did had some moderate moments in his gubernatorial reign in Arkansas.

During the 2000 campaign, he made Vice President Gore's vice presidential short list. In November 2000, People magazine named Edwards, who is married and has had four children, as its choice for the "sexiest politician."

Liberal smiberal. Cheney voted to keep Nelson mandela in prison and to cut off funding for the School Lunch program for poor kids. He also voted for every pro-pollution bill he's ever seen. He gets an F rating from the League of Conservation Voters yet you guys believe Bush when he's off posing in a green shirt in front of trees (he wants cut down) saying he's pro-environment.

In case you hadn't noticed, Kerry has voted a lot more moderate than Kennedy in recent years. And also in case you hadn't noticed, Kennedy turns out to be right about a lot of big issues, including Iraq, health care and education. If the right-wing wants to attack the Kennedys, bring it on. They already assassinated two of them so they might as well attack the third. Would complete their big trifecta.
