I find that rather hollow criticism given how most of Europe (with certain exceptions) stood by while 300,000 Iraqis were slaughtered, an entire economy ravaged, and allegedly 500,000 Iraqi children died under UN sanctions.. All because France, Germany, and Russia preferred their cozy economic relationship with Saddam over doing the right thing.. It kind of reminds me how Europe failed to prevent Milosevic from committing his atrocities until there was sufficient coverage on CNN here to prompt the Clinton administration to intervene. You all have some of the most short-sighted and self-serving attitudes in the free world... We have dramatic demographic and socio-economic challenges in the mid-east that will impact Europe most of all, yet you are content to "fiddle while Rome burns". Right or wrong in its implementation and/or justification for its actions in Iraq, at least the Bush administration took the chance to attempt dramatic positive political and economic change in the region.. The fact that you are content to allege US oil interests driving the policy in Iraq, WHILE COMPLETING REFUSING TO CRITICIZE YOUR OWN, is blatant evidence of your avoid some critical self-analysis.. Europe has the opportunity to influence the rebuilding of Iraq and win some goodwill there, even if it might cost treasure and blood.. What is apparent is that Al-Qaeda and other militants are willing to kill fellow muslims, and the failure of Europe to assist in defending and assisting the Iraqi people is probably something that will not be forgotten for decades. The message your dissident European countries are sending the region is that their blood and treasure is too precious to be spent on Arabs.. This is something that cannot be asserted against the US, regardless of any mistakes we make. At least we're trying.. Hawk
