In my view, it's precisely that 49 percent that the Bush Administration aims its terror alert warnings. The pre-war lies, distortions, omissions and perversions of truth were aimed at keeping this 49 percent firmly in the Bush camp. This established, all it took was the tweaking of an issue here or of an an issue there in order to keep public approval ratings above the 50 percent mark. So long as this poll was evident the Bush Administration felt it could go ahead with its war. Even today anytime information comes out that might cause this 49 percent to stray from its Iraqis were involved opinion, the Administration injects fear into the public consciousness. Indeed, it's war and terror politics in its most dirtiest form!
