my sample is small re: self-emplyed I can tell you out of our maybe 12 families represented where I worship -- two out of the 3 that have breadwinners unemployed -- these have opted to try things on their own after being unable to find another comparable job -- they won't be on the rolls of the unemployed, but they also aren't hoping to break even the first year -- and the carp hasn't hit the fan yet either ... one is in IT and the other in home remodeling / home repair
