You could try to get the active compound:

The spice oils called "extracts" aren't the extract they have in mind, evidently.

My doctor friend takes his with oatmeal, sprinkled from a spice jar.

The link I posted says this: "Only a little cinnamon was necessary, said Anderson, who helped conduct the study. A 30-person placebo group showed no change."

I don't know if the amount I'm taking, which is at least a tsp a day, is a little or a lot. But it's utterly painless, and on the shelf.
