Fast Feet, Smooth Sheets Cap Super 8
Bedmaking Championship
Saturday January 31, 6:06 pm ET

PARSIPPANY, N.J., Jan. 31 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Two minutes and three seconds:
That's all it took for Rebecca Rother, a housekeeper at the Salt Lake City, Utah, Super
8® motel, to make a bed today and claim the title of Fastest Bedmaker in North
America.

Competing in the Super 8 Motels International Bedmaking Championship today at the
Mall of America in Bloomington, Minn., Rother beat 27 of the fastest and finest Super 8
housekeepers from across the United States and Canada to claim the title and the prize
of $25,000 cash.

Becky Ulrich of the Spokane Valley, Wash., Super 8 motel finished second with a time
of two minutes and five seconds, winning $8,888. Ida Doggett of the Ogallala, Neb.,
Super 8 motel placed third and took home a prize of $4,444.

Contestants in this unique challenge were judged on speed and accuracy. Contestants
fitted a queen-size bed with two sheets, two pillows, two pillowcases, a blanket and a
comforter. Each wrinkled sheet, crooked bedspread or improper "Super 8 tuck" added
five seconds to a contestant's time. More than three penalties resulted in
disqualification.
