Edwards is the #1 choice for Veep for Kerry. In fact, a Kerry insider I spoke to yesterday expressed hope Edwards wins SC to keep him strong as the Veep to run hard in the south for Kerry. Kerry doesn't need SC anyway, just a strong showing. Though strange things could always happen, if Kery wins 5 out of 7 tomorrow plus Michigan, none of the others can possibly stop him. It will be all over. I think you have read by now dozens of opinions from right, center and left that Kerry is the more potent candidate versus Bush than Dean or any of the others. Edwards is strong too, but most people agree he looks a bit green. He needs some seasoning. Eight years as Veep would perfectly place him to win in 2012 and keep the GOP from the White House for as many as 16 years. Wouldn't that be nice considering they're likely to hold onto congress for some time? You can also see the hundreds of smear articles coming out against Kerry from the right. They are dominated by the words, liberal, MAssachusetts, New England, Dukakis, Kennedy, weak on defense, etc. Kerry alone can fend these charges off because he has a band of brothers with hm who served witrh hm in Nam, some of whom are Republicans, all of whose lives he saved or protected. This is the single reason why the liberal tag has never been able to stick to John, because his war heroism makes him immune. Only the right-wing will vote against him. His war service also exposes Bush's weak underbelly, the fact he went AWOL and as a jet fighter pilot is a phony pretender.
