I am delighted and encouraged by recent news.

What's happening to the Bush Administration reminds me powerfully of the latter stages of the Nixon Presidency. People like Haldeman and Ehrlichman in Nixon's day, and like Kay and O'Neill today, will normally be totally loyal to their boss. They will spout the Party Line, protecting the President, even if it means falling on their sword. These are people who were hand-picked by Presidents who value loyalty above all else. Yet, we see O'Neill and Kay making very detailed and very public statements, which make the President look like a fool (at best) or a liar (at worst). When the inner circle can't maintain group solidarity, things are really falling apart. Somewhere, there is a "smoking gun". The hunt is on, the hounds smell blood.
