Let's not forget the million spent on stadium names!

I feel badly for the people who had these over-paid jobs that no longer exist. They may never make as much money doing a job that has a real market value that approximates the value they bring to the company.

Tradelite, your observations strike close to home. I worked for a startup that made all the mistakes you mentioned. The greedy VCs were taunting management about expanding faster so they could flip the company in the public markets. When those markets collapsed the company had a surplus of office furniture, leases, and corporate logo crap. Employees were the easiest surplus to liquidate.
