Is your answer that you are against mass killings supposed to be a specific answer to the question posed? With the exception of some zealots in this world - aren't we all? You offer many opinions about how the USA does, or does not, make good decisions about war. Here is your chance to state how you would have handled the final days of the war with Japan. Deal with it, really...

Saddam has an excuse for gassing Kurds as well. Something that probably goes along the lines of "Things could have been much worse if I didn't immediately end the Kurds' uprising" or something.

Personally, I think there is no excuse for mass killing of civilians, even in wartime, no matter what the circumstances.


It is worth noting that Saddam did not "gas the Kurds" at Halabja. He was targeting Iranians, who had taken over the village. The Kurds got in the way. It was not an attempt at genocide, as it is often portrayed.
