Speculation is that the ECB will not cut, and the US will not raise rates to support the dollar. And the chances that the US cuts rates is slim. So, looks like it is a stalemate.

Stalemate is likely but I do not rule out a surprise cut from Europe. Currency intervention is surely the wrong answer as it will increase the numbers of players on each side most likely. Since the fundamentals of the US$ suck, the shorts will pound it on intervention, given enough time.

Japan has jobs to protect and cares about it's citizen the ECB do not give a dam about high unemployment - which will prove quite devastating in the future .... less funds paid into Social security and medicare programs ...... will generate greater budget deficit.
