birds in American farms are looked after very well and clean (relatively), the problem is what they feed them

And generally speaking, eating live, or just dead animals are a custom of the Chinese live in the South. Chinese living in North do not have this type of custom. At most they went to the mountain and hunt some wild birds to eat. And plus the climate in the south is hotter, so problems occur.
