In a conspiracy of a*s covering
The British made the 45 minute attack window the centerpiece of their reason to go to war, and used the technicality that it was a value given to them by the Americans. The Bush league used the uranium imports and impending mushroom cloud as the reason for war, and used the technicality that it was an item that the British had learned. It appears to not have been an accident that both governments tried for plausible deniability over the lies that launched so many to their deaths.

I've already stated my belief that the war with Iraq occurred because of

1) the ideological beliefs of the neo-cons as spelled out on the PNAC website.
2) the Hulbert oil peak.

Neither of these reasons were adequate for the American public. So a host of other reasons were offered, the lynch pin of which were the WMD claims. To make these claims plausible required the use of intelligence information. After 1998, with the inspections stopped, the intelligence quality was degraded. What you had were a series of dots that had to be connected.

Now the Admin had an agenda. Moreover, from a variety of sources (O'Neill being one), they're lack of scrupulous impartiality has been clearly exhibited. So no one should be surprised how they connected the dots. The neo-cons didn't even need the dots to be connected, they just wanted to get on with the invasion. In fact, they had to be deterred from invading Iraq before Afghanistan. The more interesting groups are the American and British intelligence officers. Some the information being fed to the intelligence services was clearly bogus. The forged Niger documents fall into this category, and a serious probe into the source of these documents needs to be made. Other false info came via the Iraqi dissident council, who had an obvious motive.

So before the war, there was intel that was both degraded and contaminated. Yet Tenant in this country, and his British counterpart allowed themselves and their agencies to make serious charges that have been shown to be completely false. As a result, peoples lives have been lost, and are continuing to be lost. Oops, isn’t good enough.

And then sometimes, I feel like I am living in a 1970"s cold war espionage film noir. Remember how much fun they were? I never dreamed it was all true. Let's hire Michael Caine to get us out of this.

What an incredible bunch of bunk. Blair's a hero. The left and the media would love to drive a wedge between London and Washington. Here's the first sign of it.
