The point is China doesn't have to continue their current rate of growth. They have the luxury of slowing down and proceeding at a far slower pace. Sure they care about growth but they have a lot less to loose than we do if they chose to change gears. Time is on their side and they don’t have to wait till you consider them to be self sustaining to change their policies.

No one HAS to do anything.
Greenspan does not have to hike he does not have to cut.
Japan does not have to support the US $, nor does China.
Europe does not have to cut or hike either. No one has to do anything so the point is moot.

Right now, China and Japan both seem to have a reason for what they are doing. They do not HAVE to keep doing it, but they do not have to stop either. So where does that leave us?

If they se an advantage in what they are doing (and they would not be doing it if they did not) then they will keep doing it until they no longer see that advantage.

Now having said the obvious, what makes you think the trend is going to change now? It could but it does not HAVE to. In fact, not only does it NOT HAVE TO, the very nature of trends says that the trend will remain.
