It is still really that simple.

I really do miss the simple minded people at church. <g>

<<Learning through 'experience' is a fool's road - we have both travelled
that well beaten road - it is the wise who learn from others
and from God's word - without having to ruin their lives to prove it true.>>

A man -some men can learn a whole book and quote that book chapter and verse. It is one who looks behind the words, not rote memorization and recall. We are not that mechanical because we have emotions.

Did you ever consider why Sidney might mention his problem on this thread unless he may have wanted some compassionate replies and to be able to see more deeply as to why he has lost hope on his marriage?

You have been perfect in your recall of God's words but have you been less than perfect in trying to understand what brought Sidney to this decision? Does it serve any purpose to hammer him with the commandments? Or would he be better served as a brother who needs understanding and to have different choices presented to him?

When anyone is in the midst of emotional turmoil it is hard to make sense of it all. An uninvolved Christian or even just a friend who gives friendly advice or his own personal experience can and does help in many situations.
