No you are not missing a thing.
The current trend is they are willing to buy US treasuries, it is good for them and it is good for us and no one can tell me any reason why this trend will change.

Japan had 0% interest rates for something close to forever and it it possible for the US too.

I believe we are in a worldwide deflationary period and that is in fact how many things are acting. Due to the US trying to fight this trend we see misallocations all over the place that mask as isolated inflation. That is my model and I am sticking to it.
