I think this Presidential election will be very different from anything that we have seen in the past. The Bush Administration has been out of touch with the people, their needs, their jobs, their health care etc. Consequently the people are seething with anger. We can draw this conclusion since the exit polls indicate that even in states where they allow cross voting, the Repubs and the Independents are voting for Kerry because they think "Kerry is best suited to defeat Bush." If the issue is defeating Bush, then Gillespie and the Repubs better watch out. Attacking the candidate that the angry people have chosen as their nominee could backfire on the Repubs. In 1996, we did not see Bob Dole as having any chance of beating Clinton. It is their pocket book that people vote

So the American people, while keeping an eye on the security issue, while at the same would want a candidate who can get them jobs, ramp up the economy etc. Bush does not have that as his record to talk about. Whereas Kerry can and will.

So the Repubs need to watch out. If they overdo attacks on Kerry based on his past and refuse to talk about what they will do for the future, then Bush will be toast.

Interesting to see if in US history, Bush turns out to be the incumbent loosing by a landslide.

"It is all about beating Bush, stupid" is what the issue is.
