Y2k was a big hype for sure. Most Y2K problems were simple date comparisons. In the place I worked, there were lots of Y2K projects in 1999 but nobody wanted to do it. Anyone with marketable skills wanted to do something with the Internet.

Regarding that client, the automated process failed and the everything had to be processed manually. The client contacted me after 6 years and I fixed the problem in 2 weekends. If they didn't find me, they probably had to pay a lot more to get someone else to do it.
