Kerry's speech was a CYA move. That way he could have it both ways -- point to his vote if things turned out well, and point to his speech if they didn't.

That's how Kerry has always operated, in Vietnam and in politics. He's been referred to as a chameleon by Vets Dispatch. His Senate record is abysmal.

Leopards don't change their spots. You're right about that, but you're talking about the wrong leopard.

Anti-war candidates never win. As Clinton said, strong and wrong beats right and light. Kerry is strong but right. Without being anti-war. He gets criticized for being neither dove nor haawk, but that is a good thing. How about a leader who keeps all options open but values peace as well as knowing how to conduct a war, if necessary.
