I don't follow options as closely as I should but from your explanation, it sounds like someone is taking a bullish position.

On a different note, I think we are seeing a shaking out process in the overall market. Most of the move off last year's low has seen similar short term topping action, then a relatively quick backfill move before returning to the upside. Since earnings are over and the sell-on-news was relatively orderly, I think we'll get a change of direction (back up) within the next 5 or 6 trading days. There definitely appears to be an attempt by the market makers to push down stocks that have "out performed", at least that's the way it looks to me.
