EB,
Yes I'm aware of Chris Matthews political origins as Tip O'Neill's congressional aid. Thereafter, Chris often made appearances on TV's Crossfire show where he ranted with same distinct style evident on 'Hardball' however, in those days Chris was extremely liberal & defended the Dem agenda. After two conservative administrations, Reagan & Bush plus his admitted embarrassment during Clinton Adm, Matthews views have become somewhat subdued and he insists he's apolitical. (Bill O'Reilly makes the same claim--which is hilarious)

It's evident that Matthews enjoys rubbing elbows with DC celebs & is a notorious name dropper. His recent unbalanced reporting of the Dem primary race, made it obvious that Matthews is easily manipulated. Evidently Kerry/Heinz discovered that fact & have used it to their advantage.
