Until he looked on his counter and noticed his toaster.

Excellent point! It sure takes up a lot of counter space, too.

I would like a more intelligent way of keeping small appliances handy. The pots and pans are hanging from one of those racks, the plates and cups go in the cupboard, the silverware in the silverware drawer, the knives live in one of those wooden block thingies, but the appliances hog the kitchen counter. Kitchenaid mixer, the humongous one that needs Mongo the Magnificent to lift it; Cuisineart; little bitty Cuisineart just for herbs (easy to clean); blender; toaster; coffee maker; rice cooker; crockpot; microwave with turntable almost big enough to roast a turkey; can opener; and toaster. And the knife block. And the little crockery thingies that hold the wooden spoons and spatulas and stuff like that. And the enormous bread bowls that really won't fit anyplace else.

And no, Rambi, I really don't cook that much, although I am pretty good when I do cook.

I changed out of my flannel nightie into shorts and teeshirt at 2:00 eastern but haven't lifted a finger except to microwave some leftovers and let the dog out.

I spend a lot of time looking at all the clutter and feeling defeated. I can't even make up my mind between cork and hardwood for the kitchen floor.
