Neocon, re: "f you are going to credit Dr. Kay, by the way, remember that he found Iraq in substantial violation of UN mandates, and that he considers the war worthwhile, on the basis of what he did find........"

That is not necessarily true. I can credit him for accuracy on his assessment of the wmd issue because he had an incentive to find them, special knowledge as a result of his investigation and his statement that they aren't there is reliable as a statement against interest.

The statement that the war was "worthwhile" reflects no special knowledge on his part. That statement is simply one that reflects his political view of the relative costs and benefits, including those that involve his OWN self interests. I'd rather make that decision for myself based on my own values, knowledge of the relevant facts and projection of where this will likely lead in terms of helping or hurting the interests of America.

People can tell you black is white until they turn blue; it doesn't make it true. And it doesn't make me believe that the EVER MUDDIER mess in Iraq, and the deaths that have resulted, are necessary to contain a third rate country that the Bush people are claiming was willing to commit suicide by attacking or aiding in attacking America using "weapons of mass destruction PLANS."

To paraphrase Sergeant Friday; "just the facts, Dr. Kay."
