Re: "Why did he suggest law-breaking illegal aliens should become 'almost' legal? Last but certainly not least, why did he not take stronger measures to strengthen security on the country's porous borders after 9/11?"

Why?

Because too many Americans do not care strongly enough about how legal and illegal immigration is destroying our country.

So the politicians pander to the pro-immigration types who are passionate.

If most Americans said enough and let their politicians know how they felt, then our borders would become secure and most of our problems would become smaller.

This is not a Bush problem, but he is not part of the solution. Few politicians are.

"Why does the new medicare drug program benefit HMOs & drug cos more than seniors?"

I think a better question is why does the AARP support the bill, but the know-it-all dems say they are too stupid to make up their own minds?

But you said he ignored the needs of average citizens. The average citizen is employed, got a tax cut, hasn't been attacked by terrorists and has prescription drug benefits under Medicare. Bush has done just the opposite of ignoring the needs of average citizens.
