You're correct, most patents are a wrinkle on something depending on what you call a wrinkle, eg. Bardeen and Brattain invented the transistor, are all developments that got us to 4.0 GHz processors mere wrinkles????

And BTW, process patents are considered very weak patents since they are easy to evade. Patent lawyers for corporations seek structure patents......they are much easier to contest in court.

My point is, someone across the big river is thinking "outside the box".
