There are legal benefits to being married, but anyone is free to get married.

Granted there are legal restrictions with respect to WHO you can marry, but there is no law that says gays cannot get married.

I cannot legally marry my cousin, so am I being being denied equal protection? No I'm not, the law is perfectly agreeable to my getting married, it simply requires that I marry SOMEONE ELSE.

That wasn't the topic.

Indeed it was. Homosexuals, using current law, can fashion the same sorts of instructions I fashion as a result of my marriage. The law does not forbid them here. The problem is, the law does not recognize their relationships such that these instructions are assumed. Homosexuals use this fact to wedge the law so that society is forced to approve their corrupt relationships.

There are hundreds, nay, thousands of specific rights, privileges, and specific carve-outs of legal considerations that apply to marriage

And society has a direct interest in recognizing real couples and granting these privileges because every single member of society, ever single one of us, without any exception at all, right down to the very last person, contains a most fundamental human identity that results of exactly one man and exactly one woman. Society has a direct interest in recognizing this and only this scheme because when it comes to human biological relationships, all humans are this and only this. Homosexual relationships are not part of the human scheme at all. Any basis that will permit their recognition necessarily forces a recognition of practically everything else - which is to say it forces a recognition of nothing.

Marriage is doomed - it is already doomed because of people just like you, people who do not know themselves, who do not know their wives and children, who do not understand marriage and family.
