India has a natural advantage for this outsourcing, in that as a former British colony all educated people speak English, many perhaps better than you or I. In the past I read of Indian call center workers being trained in regional US accents, so they could pretend they were in say, Atlanta. I doubt they do this now that the word's out.

I wouldn't expect that, having recently visited India. It took 15 mins in an Internet cafe in Bangalore (India's SV) to check my yahoo e-mail!

I think that incompetent US IT management is one of the main factors behind this out-sourcing phenomenon.

I think that there is a general level of cluelessness in US IT management. This is the reason IMHO for all this out-sourcing.

At some point I'm hoping that US management realizes that IT managers have managed to screw up with both top (US) talent and cut-rate (offshore) talent.

If this happens, will we realize that software rules the world and it belongs in the US - ???

<<Maybe in twenty years Indian's will be in extreme amazement after calling tech support and getting some guy in Africa?>>

LOL! Maybe so....the only predictable thing these days seems to be "change".

Predictable used to be confined to death and taxes....but medical science is defeating death and taxes are being cut to the bone. Geez, who knows what's next? <<gg>>
