Although many in the left are using Tenet's plea as ammunition against Bush, I'm not ready to let Tenet "off the hook". If he now says the threat was not imminent, why didn't he say that a year ago. Yes, I know that GWB kept him on, and he's part of a team. Moreover, his role is to remain in the background. But there's a point where even a "behind the scene teamplayer" must speak up. If the country is going to war, and you know the reasons proffered are false and misleading, it's time to "break ranks". Yes, Tenet was part of Bush's team, but his salary is being paid by the American people. His is a position of trust - a trust that he has violated. If he had to resign, and then speak out, so be it. To remain silent, with what he should (and probably did) know, means he personally bears responsibility for people's deaths.
