Yes, and as long as debt service is a manageable percentage of the budget, there is no problem. It is idle to say that we have burdened later generations, when they are profiting from the infrastructure and defense and stimuli and so forth that has gone before. We are borrowing, to a large degree, to take care of our children and grandchildren, by building schools and roads, by combating terrorism and supporting NATO, by stimulating the economy so that their parents have good jobs, and so forth. Besides, we have a lot of equity out there, in the form of federal lands and buildings, for example, to back our debt. If we got into trouble, we could liquidate some of these holdings to restructure......

Saw on th news channels today, record personal bankruptcies, record car repo's. Just a couple offshoots of the dynamic Bush economy.
