OT - I looked at the max pain situaion for AMAT for all contracts thru Jan 06. Stock needs to stay at or below 24.9 for Feb and Mar expirations and can then go to 26.4. It cannot exceed 29.9 for the Jan expiration. This could explain why the leader in the industry can't get going like some of the others. At some point the stock will break over the max pain limits but there is a lot of money to be made by keeping it down.
